Ever since I can remember George Orwell’s 1984 was one of my most favourite books. No one else had given us such a precisely defined imagination of future and the risks it contains.
Though the real political and social evolution in the western hemisphere is not in an exactly line with George’s visions a number of them already come true – not to mention countries like North Korea. And the possibility to construct anew a totalitarian dictatorship will not disappear as long as the human race does not understand: Many of previously well known democratic countries today (2018) are directly on the way to pseudo-democracies, most of them represented and governed by bizarre guys from extreme right-wing parties.
It needed several months to arrange this project and at last we shot for 16 hours on different locations and in the studio as well. So I want to say very special thanks to the whole crew for their versatility, patience and anticipation; special thanks also to The Bochum University of Taxidermy, Germany – who provided the taxidermied rat – and to my wife for her confidently back-up and pure being.
